Elegant Manor House Celebrations with a Chinese Tea Ceremony

A Romantic Autumn Wedding at Clevedon Hall: Elegant Manor House Celebrations with a Chinese Tea Ceremony

If you’re dreaming of an elegant English manor house wedding with timeless styling, meaningful traditions, and unforgettable guest experiences, this real wedding at Clevedon Hall is full of inspiration.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of this historic Somerset wedding venue, Candice & Leo celebrated their October wedding day with romantic pastel florals, heartfelt cultural moments, and joyful evening celebrations, all designed to feel relaxed, intimate, and truly personal. In their own words they tell us all about their dream wedding day ...

Why We Chose Clevedon Hall for Our Wedding Venue

From the very beginning, we had a clear vision for our wedding day: an English manor house setting that felt elegant without being over the top, full of character, warmth, and natural spaces that could flow seamlessly throughout the day.

When we first visited Clevedon Hall, walking up the winding path toward the house, it immediately felt like the perfect fit. As the architecture came into view, the beautiful proportions, light-filled rooms, and carefully maintained gardens, we knew it matched exactly what we had imagined.

Clevedon Hall offered the balance we were looking for: a real sense of occasion in a setting that still felt welcoming and relaxed.

Because our wedding took place in October, when the weather can be unpredictable, it was important to choose a venue with strong options both indoors and outdoors. The flexibility of Clevedon Hall’s spaces meant we could plan the day with confidence, whatever the conditions.

We were also mindful of the guest experience. Many of our friends and family were travelling from across the world, and being able to accommodate our closest loved ones in the beautiful on-site bedrooms, combined with having exclusive use of the house, made the celebrations feel even more special and unhurried.

Special Moments from Our Clevedon Hall Wedding Day

There were so many unforgettable moments throughout the day, but a few stand out in particular.

A Meaningful Chinese Tea Ceremony

One of the most emotional parts of the day was our Chinese tea ceremony. It gave us the opportunity to share private, heartfelt moments with our parents before the wider celebrations began.

Filled with warmth and gentle laughter, it allowed us to pause together as families and reflect on the meaning of the day.

The Ceremony in the Great Hall

Our ceremony in the Great Hall was another highlight. Walking down the staircase and seeing our vision brought to life was incredibly moving.

Continuing along the aisle and looking into the faces of our guests gathered around us was a moment we will never forget. We felt so lucky to have so many people we hold dear witnessing such an important milestone in our lives.

Golden Hour Wedding Portraits

Later in the afternoon, as the light softened into golden hour, we stepped outside for some quiet time together and a few stunning portraits as a newly married couple.

Clevedon Hall provided the most beautiful backdrop, and those private moments before returning to the celebrations were truly magical.

Wedding Traditions: Honouring Our Hong Kong Heritage

One of the most meaningful traditions we incorporated was a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, reflecting our Hong Kong heritage.

It was important to us that this formed part of the day as a way of honouring our families and acknowledging the cultural journey that has shaped us.

The tea ceremony was held separately with each set of parents, creating two intimate and personal moments. During the ceremony, we knelt and served tea as a gesture of respect and gratitude, thanking our parents for their love, guidance, and support.

In return, they offered wisdom and blessings for our marriage, marking the formal joining of our families.

Our maid of honour shared traditional auspicious sayings, which delighted our parents and filled the room with laughter, making the ceremony feel both deeply meaningful and wonderfully warm.

Wedding Styling: Pastel Florals and Romantic Manor House Elegance

Our wedding styling centred around a romantic pastel palette of soft pinks, lilacs, creams, and gentle blues.

We wanted to create a setting that felt elegant and intimate while enhancing the natural beauty of Clevedon Hall.

Ceremony Flowers in the Great Hall

For the ceremony, a broken floral arch framed the space beautifully against the Hall’s historic architecture.

The aisle was lined with meadow-style arrangements in pastel tones and natural greenery, creating a relaxed, romantic atmosphere.

Wedding Breakfast in the Grand Library

For the wedding breakfast, we chose the Grand Library. The richness of the wood panelling and book-lined walls created such an intimate setting.

Floral centrepieces echoed the ceremony arrangements, while trailing foliage wrapped around the Library pillars, softening the structure of the room and tying everything together seamlessly.

Wedding Outfits: Timeless Style with Cultural Meaning

Our outfit choices blended tradition with classic elegance.

Tea Ceremony Looks

For the Chinese tea ceremony, red was central, symbolising luck, happiness, and prosperity in Chinese culture. We chose outfits that honoured tradition while still complementing the overall Western styling of the day.

Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast

For the main ceremony, we opted for timeless, classic looks:

  • A traditional morning suit for the groom
  • An off-the-shoulder gown with a cathedral-length veil for the bride

Evening Reception Outfit Change

For the first dance and evening celebrations, we changed into:

  • A classic tuxedo
  • A princess-cut gown with a V-neckline

The flowing silhouette of the dress created such beautiful movement on the dance floor.

Guest Experience Highlights: Fun Details That Made the Day Special

One of our biggest priorities throughout planning was ensuring our guests truly enjoyed the day.

With friends and family travelling from across the UK and overseas, and several children among our guests, we wanted everyone to feel relaxed and included.

We incorporated fun elements throughout the day, including:

  • A gelato bike, which was a highlight for guests of all ages
  • A live illustrator, capturing special moments and creating portraits for guests to take home
  • An evening photo booth, which became a focal point of laughter, memories, and heartfelt guestbook messages

These thoughtful touches helped create a joyful atmosphere from start to finish.

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

Wedding planning can quickly become all-consuming, so our biggest piece of advice would be to make time for each other away from the planning process.

Whether it’s regular date nights or simply switching off from wedding conversations altogether, taking time to enjoy each other’s company helps keep everything in perspective.

A Clevedon Hall Wedding to Remember

This romantic autumn wedding at Clevedon Hall was the perfect blend of timeless English manor house elegance, meaningful cultural tradition, and unforgettable guest experiences.

From pastel florals in the Great Hall to golden hour portraits in the gardens, every moment felt personal, joyful, and full of love.

If you’re searching for a luxury Somerset wedding venue with exclusive-use charm, beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and the perfect backdrop for a truly unforgettable celebration, Clevedon Hall is an extraordinary choice.

A Classic Yet Bold Candlelit Wedding Inspiration at Clevedon Hall

A Classic Yet Bold Candlelit Wedding Inspiration at Clevedon Hall

A Classic Yet Bold Candlelit Wedding Inspiration at Clevedon Hall

This candlelit wedding inspiration at Clevedon Hall was born from a desire to blend two seemingly opposing ideas: classic and modern. Refined yet sensual. Timeless yet daring. At its heart, this styled shoot celebrates real love between two people and the freedom to express that love without boundaries or expectations.

Designed for couples seeking something atmospheric, intimate, and deeply personal, this editorial proves that weddings don’t need to follow tradition to feel meaningful.

The Vision: Intimate, Modern & Emotion-Led Wedding Design

The vision behind this Clevedon Hall wedding shoot was intentionally bold. Rather than focusing on scale, grandeur, or light-filled spaces, the concept leaned into mood, connection, and emotional depth.

This was a celebration of intimacy over tradition, an exploration of how a wedding day can feel when couples allow themselves to prioritise atmosphere, sensuality, and authenticity. It’s wedding inspiration for couples who want their day to feel cinematic, confident, and unapologetically personal.

The Venue: Clevedon Hall Wedding Inspiration

There was never another option for this shoot. Clevedon Hall, and specifically its breathtaking Grand Library, set the tone perfectly. As a luxury UK wedding venue, Clevedon Hall offers rich history, dramatic architecture, and a sense of timeless elegance that lends itself beautifully to intimate, candlelit weddings.

A serpentine wedding table flowed effortlessly from the grand piano, styled simply with elegant calla lilies that traced its curve. The result was striking yet understated, proof that a wedding breakfast doesn’t need a bright, open room to feel extraordinary. Instead, history, texture, and atmosphere can create something far more powerful.

After all, few spaces evoke candlelight, whiskey, cigars, and music quite like a grand library steeped in character.

Wedding Styling & Inspiration: Poetic, Sultry & Refined

The styling was intentionally more stripped back than traditional wedding design, while still maintaining a balance between classic and modern aesthetics. Music played a central role in shaping the mood, inspired by the grand piano and the emotional pull music has throughout a wedding day.

When considering what feels both sophisticated and sensual, the answer was clear: privacy, candlelight, and minor, emotive music.

Personal details elevated the setting. Sydney from Altar and Toast curated bespoke wedding vows and escort cards, adding emotional depth and narrative to the space. With the vision described as “poetically sultry,” Sydney crafted intimate vows that perfectly echoed the atmosphere.

One of the most evocative moments of the shoot saw the bride writing a handwritten note to her husband, inviting him upstairs. There, she greeted him in a sheer, embellished gown, whiskey in hand. It was a deliberate shift, turning the dial up, embracing intimacy, and challenging convention. Why shouldn’t couples feel sensual and connected on their wedding evening?

Wedding Fashion & Bridal Beauty Inspiration

Laketa embodied effortless bridal elegance throughout the shoot. For the daytime look, she wore a classic ivory fitted gown by Elis Bridals, sourced from High Society Bridal Lounge. A modern neck scarf and oversized floral embellishment added a contemporary edge, while her pinned-back hair allowed the styling details to take centre stage.

For the evening, Laketa transitioned into a sheer Eva Lendel gown, layered with a blazer dress to create both a second and third bridal look. Her hair was unpinned, shoes removed, and the mood softened into something relaxed, intimate, and romantic, perfect inspiration for brides considering an evening transformation.

Monte complemented the aesthetic in a classic Italian tuxedo from Dyfed Menswear: timeless, confident, and impeccably tailored.

Final Thoughts: Modern Wedding Inspiration Without Rules

The relaxed, effortless nature of this Clevedon Hall wedding inspiration shoot is a testament to an exceptionally creative and collaborative team of wedding suppliers. While the concept was clearly defined, each professional brought their own expertise and artistry, elevating the vision at every stage.

Choosing a wedding team who understands their craft, and can adapt, problem-solve, and enhance a creative direction, is invaluable. Clevedon Hall itself is a dream wedding venue, supported by a passionate and dedicated team led by Lauren, whose expertise and care made every detail seamless.

This shoot is a reminder that weddings don’t need to follow a formula. With the right venue, styling, and people, they can be intimate, sensual, bold, and completely, unapologetically you.

An English Rose Garden Inspired Wedding

An English Rose Garden Inspired Wedding

The Garden Room: An English Rose Garden, Reimagined Within

This recent styled shoot in collaboration with wedding planner Emily Charlotte, was born from a simple yet powerful idea: that a wedding need not take place outdoors to feel immersed in nature. With thoughtful design and creative vision, even the most iconic of gardens can be reimagined indoors: abundant, romantic, and unforgettable.

The Garden Room is more than a concept; it is a statement. It challenges the notion that florals and natural beauty belong only under open skies, proving instead that they can flourish just as magnificently within the walls of a historic venue. This shoot celebrates the magic that happens when imagination meets craftsmanship, where a rose garden unfurls in an unexpected setting and transforms the space entirely.

At the heart of the design is the exquisite Patience rose, admired for its soft, lace-like petals and timeless neutral tones. Often described as effortlessly romantic, this rose became the soul of the shoot, bringing a sense of calm, elegance, and enduring beauty to every detail. As the quote so perfectly captures: “There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence.”

The Story

Our couple’s story didn’t begin with a dating app or a chance encounter, but at a charming family garden party in Shropshire. United by a shared love of nature and gardening, their connection blossomed effortlessly. The bride drew her wedding inspiration from long, blissful summers spent in her grandmother’s garden, where the air was heavy with the unmistakable fragrance of hundreds of Rosa Constance Spry roses.

She dreamed of recreating the magic of that momentous garden party where their paths first intertwined, a celebration of romance, nostalgia, and natural beauty.

Nestled in the Somerset countryside, Clevedon Hall became the perfect venue, chosen for its deep connection to the groom’s family roots in the area. Originally built in 1852 and first known as Frankfort Hall, the property has been a grand family home, an elegant girls’ school, and is now a prestigious wedding and events venue.

With its painterly wallpaper and garden-inspired murals, the mansion carries the spirit of the outdoors into its very heart. This harmony between house and nature captivated both bride and groom, inspiring them to bring a romantic rose garden into the Great Hall itself, a tribute to their love story and their shared passion for the natural world.

The Space

The Great Hall at Clevedon Hall served as the primary setting for the shoot, its beautifully muraled walls aligning seamlessly with the garden-inspired vision. Designed to showcase the versatility of the space, the ceremony, dinner, and cake moments were all styled against the same floral backdrop, with subtle changes in layout allowing each setting to feel distinct while remaining cohesive.

The hall’s grand wooden alcove framed the ceremony, acting as a natural focal point and architectural anchor. Surrounding the doors, a lush, maximalist floral installation spilled outward, cascading organically onto the nearby fireplaces and enveloping the space in abundance. The result was an immersive, romantic environment that celebrated scale, texture, and the timeless elegance of a garden, brought gloriously indoors.

The Cake

A statement wedding cake by Justine of It’s Not Just Cake formed a striking focal point within the design. Inspired by delicate lace detailing, the cake echoed the softness and romance of rose petals woven throughout the shoot.

Positioned on the stage and framed by the surrounding floral installation, the cake stood approximately five feet tall and was elevated on discreet blocks to enhance its presence. Flower meadows encircled the base, grounding the design in nature and reinforcing the illusion of a garden blooming within the Great Hall.

Why a Multi-Day Wedding Might Be the Best Decision You Make

Congratulations on your engagement! If you’re planning your wedding from afar, or inviting guests to travel to celebrate with you, you may be wondering how to make the most of everyone’s time together. For out-of-town couples especially, a multi-day wedding offers a relaxed, immersive, and truly unforgettable way to celebrate your love.

Make the Journey Worthwhile

When guests travel to attend your wedding, a single day can feel fleeting. A multi-day celebration turns your wedding into a destination experience, giving loved ones the chance to settle in, explore, and truly enjoy the occasion. Rather than arriving and leaving in a rush, guests can unwind and fully embrace the celebration alongside you.

More Quality Time With the People You Love

One of the biggest benefits of a multi-day wedding is the extra time it gives you with your guests. Instead of trying to greet everyone during a packed reception, you’ll enjoy meaningful moments spread across several days, shared meals, casual conversations, and relaxed gatherings that create deeper connections and lasting memories.

This is especially meaningful when friends and family have travelled from far away to be there for you.

A Wedding That Feels Like a Getaway

Multi-day weddings blur the line between celebration and escape. With everything taking place in one beautiful location, your wedding becomes a mini-retreat, one where love, laughter, and togetherness take centre stage. Guests can slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and feel part of something truly special.

Why Clevedon Hall Is the Perfect Multi-Day Wedding Venue

Clevedon Hall is ideally suited to hosting multi-day weddings, offering the space, flexibility, and elegance needed to create a seamless extended celebration. With several beautifully appointed rooms and spaces to choose from, you can design each part of your wedding to suit a different mood, from relaxed and intimate to grand and celebratory.

The Hall is set within stunning grounds, perfect for outdoor gatherings, quiet moments, and unforgettable photo opportunities across your stay. With 25 luxurious bedrooms onsite, you and your closest family and friends can stay together under one roof, turning your wedding into a shared experience rather than a single event.

Exclusive Use, Endless Possibilities

For a truly unforgettable wedding experience, we offer the exclusive opportunity to take over our stunning mansion for multiple days, allowing you to extend the celebrations and create lasting memories.

With exclusive use of the venue and estate, you can extend your wedding festivities beyond just one day, whether it’s an intimate welcome gathering, a lavish rehearsal dinner, themed welcome party or a relaxed post-wedding brunch. Every moment flows effortlessly when everything takes place in one private, beautiful setting.

Less Stress, More Enjoyment

Planning a wedding from out of town can feel overwhelming, but a multi-day format actually brings ease. Events are spread out, timelines are more flexible, and there’s room to breathe. You’ll have time to settle in, rehearse, celebrate, and recover, allowing you to be fully present for every part of your wedding journey.

Designed Around You

No two couples are the same, and a multi-day wedding gives you the freedom to reflect that. Each event can have its own style and energy: formal, relaxed, elegant, or playful, creating a layered experience that feels personal and intentional.

Let us create a multi-day wedding experience, with the freedom to tailor every detail to your desires, ensuring your celebration feels as unique as your love story.

A Celebration You’ll Never Want to End

For out-of-town couples, a multi-day wedding isn’t just a practical choice, it’s a meaningful one. It transforms your wedding into a destination experience filled with connection, joy, and unforgettable moments.

If you’re dreaming of an unhurried, immersive, and truly extraordinary wedding, Clevedon Hall offers the perfect setting to begin your forever.

A Joyful, Culture-Rich Celebration at Clevedon Hall

"Our wedding day at Clevedon Hall felt magical from the very beginning. We stayed in the cottage the night before with the bridal party, which set the tone perfectly, relaxed, intimate, and full of excitement. The next morning felt like the best kind of sleepover: bridesmaids everywhere, laughter over breakfast, hair and makeup in full swing, and those emotional little moments when it all suddenly feels real."

Laura and Marsel’s wedding at Clevedon Hall was the perfect blend of heartfelt tradition, relaxed joy and timeless style.

A Ceremony Full of Heart

Their ceremony was one of the standout moments of the day. The couple opted for something meaningful rather than overly formal, and their celebrant crafted an atmosphere that felt warm, inclusive and deeply romantic. Thoughtful touches made it feel entirely their own.

From there, the day flowed effortlessly, confetti on the lawn, exceptional food, heartfelt speeches, and a dance floor filled from the very first song. It was exactly the kind of celebration the couple had envisioned.

They credit much of that seamlessness to their suppliers and to the Clevedon Hall team, whom they described as “beyond accommodating” and integral to how easy the day felt.

Personal Traditions & Cultural Joy

Honouring their heritage was a meaningful part of the day. Laura is half Iranian and Marsel is Albanian, and the couple beautifully blended both cultures into the celebration.

During the ceremony, they incorporated a Sofreh Aghd, a traditional Persian wedding spread symbolising love and prosperity. They also exchanged honey, a shared custom in both cultures, to signify a sweet future together.

Later in the evening, the Persian knife dance brought pure joy and energy to the room, as guests danced playfully before handing over the cake knife. Subtle nods to Albania were woven throughout too, including custom matchboxes printed with “Gëzuar,” meaning “cheers.”

Refined Styling with a Modern Edge

The aesthetic of the day complemented Clevedon Hall’s grandeur while feeling fresh and summery. Bridesmaids wore deep burgundy and the men chose classic tuxedos, setting a sophisticated tone.

The floral palette featured whites, greens and pops of acid green, adding a modern lift to the elegance. The library was chosen for the wedding breakfast, with long tables, candlelight and a gently moody atmosphere that created an intimate, dinner-party feeling.

“It felt elegant, warm and personal,” says the couple, a perfect reflection of their vision.

Timeless, Elegant Fashion

Fashion was guided by classic glamour with modern practicality. Laura wore a fitted off-the-shoulder gown with removable sleeves, timeless in structure, but designed for freedom on the dance floor. A lace-detailed veil and old Hollywood inspired hair completed the look.

The bridal party’s deep burgundy dresses and the groomsmen’s tuxedos echoed the couple’s chosen aesthetic: refined, cinematic and elegantly in tune with the venue.

Why Clevedon Hall

For Laura and Marsel, Clevedon Hall offered the ideal balance of character, flexibility and intimacy. The exclusive-use nature of the venue was a significant deciding factor, allowing the celebration to feel entirely private and personal.

The ability to host guests onsite was equally important, extending the celebration into the following morning and making the experience feel like a true weekend gathering. With stunning grounds, beautiful indoor options and exceptional food, the venue felt like the perfect match.

“It was the right mix of style, comfort and fun,” they said, romantic without being formal, luxurious without feeling rigid.

Advice for Future Couples

Their advice is simple and grounded: make it yours. The most unforgettable moments are the ones that reflect who you are as a couple, the calm morning, the private glance between speeches, the laughter on the dance floor.

And perhaps most importantly: don’t obsess over perfection. “Plan the parts that truly matter to you, and let go of the rest. Trusting Clevedon Hall and their team made everything flow effortlessly.”

When New York Meets the English Seaside

A Ceremony Filled With Meaning

The couple chose a deeply personal ceremony: handwritten vows, read aloud to one another, officiated by James’s sister, all set beneath the gazebo facing the Hall. The romantic backdrop was everything they’d hoped for, and the team honored every detail of their outdoor request.

As guests spilled onto the lawn afterwards, a string quartet played Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, a deliberate, delightfully Bridgerton-esque touch. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried, with guests drifting freely between garden and rooms while enjoying elegant hors d’oeuvres.

Dinner, Dancing, and an All-Night House Party

Dinner in the library was pure moody magic, long candlelit tables, hanging moss, and the elevated intimacy of a modern dinner party inside a historic estate. Maggie's father’s heartfelt speech was unforgettable.

Then came the party.

The dance floor was packed from the very first song (credit to The Dynamos), with guests breaking occasionally to step out for air on the warmest day of the year. Late-night mac and cheese and hot dogs appeared exactly when needed. The vibe remained effortlessly personal and cosy, like the world’s most polished house party.

They even forgot to cut the cake until after the photographer had left, meaning the moment now lives solely as chaotic, hilarious camcorder footage. Their “just-in-case” 1 AM return bus to Clifton, booked almost as a joke, ended up completely full. Nobody wanted to leave.

Style Notes

Maggie embraced the venue’s romantic heritage while weaving in a fresh modern touch. White florals and greenery by Edwina Lowe Florals complemented, rather than competed with, the character of the rooms, elegant, timeless, and beyond her expectations. Their photographer Lucia captured it perfectly.

Fashion was equally intentional: James found his tux in San Francisco, adding a meaningful memory to the process. Maggie found her dress, the second she tried, at Sarah Seven in NYC. Once the gloves and veil were added, the English-garden vision clicked into place.

A “Traditional Wedding with a Twist”

The couple’s guiding idea? A chic dinner party that slowly evolves into a euphoric night out, and ends with a luxury sleepover surrounded by friends. One guest described it as “an adult sleepaway camp,” which the couple loved. Tradition, but relaxed. Elevated, but full of joy.

Words of Wisdom

“Trust your instincts,” Maggie says. “Planning from NYC was surprisingly stress-free because we had such an incredible team at Clevedon Hall — and vendors we fully trusted. Follow your gut. It won’t steer you wrong.”

Planning a transatlantic wedding from Brooklyn might sound daunting, but for Maggie and James, choosing Clevedon Hall felt like fate from the moment they discovered it.

The couple first visited Bristol a year prior to their engagement to see James’s extended family. Maggie fell instantly in love with the area, the history, the scenery, the warmth, and the seed of an international wedding was planted. When they got engaged, she began researching UK venues from afar over Christmas and vividly remembers stumbling across Clevedon Hall’s website and immediately knowing this was it: the grounds, the architecture, the dreamlike interiors.

With most guests staying in nearby Bristol, the 30-minute drive felt ideal, and the idea of having 50 friends and family stay overnight on-site sealed the deal. One big, elegant sleepover.

What truly set Clevedon Hall apart, however, was the team. Planning from across the Atlantic went from intimidating to effortless. Every communication was clear, kind, and meticulously organized. Trusting their instincts, Maggie and James booked Clevedon Hall without even visiting in person, a decision they now call the best they made.

A Beautiful, Colourful Celebration at Clevedon Hall

When this lovely couple began searching for their perfect wedding venue, they visited countless places, but nothing quite felt right. That is, until they discovered Clevedon Hall.

“You guys had it all, room capacity, venue flexibility (with both indoor and outdoor options), and an aesthetically beautiful setting. Every staff member we interacted with made us come away smiling.”

From the moment they arrived, they knew Clevedon Hall was the one.

The Big Day

The couple’s wedding day was an explosion of colour and vibrancy, perfectly reflecting their joyful personalities and multicultural heritage. From bright floral details to beautifully coordinated décor, every corner of Clevedon Hall came alive with energy and love.

“The highlight was the smooth running of every part of the day. Other highlights included the beautiful outdoor ceremony, the stunning wedding breakfast room and decorations, the dancing setup, and time spent with family.”

The atmosphere was electric yet relaxed, a perfect blend of elegance, tradition, and celebration.

Honouring Tradition

A key part of their celebration was embracing family traditions that have been passed down through generations.

“We carried on the tradition of the chair lift and breaking of the plates, part of both our heritage and family tradition going back years.”

These meaningful moments added to the day’s sense of joy and connection, with guests cheering, laughing, and celebrating alongside the couple. Clevedon Hall’s flexibility made it easy to bring their cultural traditions to life in a space that felt truly theirs.

The Style

Choosing a timeless look, the couple opted for a classic black-tie theme, which balanced beautifully with the day’s bold colours and lively décor.

“Traditional black-tie event, keeping it classy.”

The contrast between the refined styling and the vivid celebration created an unforgettable aesthetic, sophisticated yet full of life.

Words of Wisdom

When asked for advice for future Clevedon Hall couples, their response was heartfelt and full of perspective:

“Plan as much as possible, think of every little thing in painstaking detail… then two weeks before, let go. What will be, will be. The more you can accept that, the happier you’ll be on the day.”

A Heartfelt Thank You

The couple also had a special message for the Clevedon Hall team:

“I know I can speak for both of us when I say that Jess and Kyle are among the main reasons our wedding was as enjoyable—the best day of my life—as it was. You two are exceptional at what you do, and we cannot thank you enough!”

A Magical Christmas at Hogwarts Wedding at Clevedon Hall

When it comes to wedding themes, few can rival the charm and enchantment of Harry Potter. For this Swiss couple, the dream was clear from the very beginning: a Christmas at Hogwarts wedding. After months of searching through more than 40 venues, they found the perfect place to bring that vision to life, Clevedon Hall.

Why Clevedon Hall?

Choosing the right venue was a journey in itself. After narrowing down dozens of options, Clevedon Hall stood out for its warm, stately interiors and magical, almost Hogwarts-like atmosphere.

“We loved the idea of having the place exclusively to ourselves and we loved the Harry Potter vibe. Lauren’s professionalism and excitement to help us plan made us fall in love with Clevedon Hall even more.”

The sweeping architecture, grand library, and Christmas décor made it feel like stepping straight into the Great Hall, perfect for their dream of a festive wizarding celebration.

The Special Moments

Every wedding day has its highlights, but for this couple, the day was filled with magic from start to finish.

  • A perfectly smooth day: With flawless organization, there wasn’t a moment of stress. Everything happened exactly when and where it was supposed to.
  • The bridal suite send-off: Katie’s thoughtful presence guiding the bridal party to the ceremony added a touch of calm before the big moment.
  • Champagne tower dreams: A dazzling highlight that added sparkle to the celebration.
  • The Hogwarts-style library: Seeing the room transformed into a Christmas at Hogwarts banquet for the wedding breakfast was absolutely breathtaking.
  • Fireworks surprise: What was meant as a surprise for guests ended up surprising even the couple with just how spectacular it was.
  • The aisle moment: The most cherished memory remains that first look, when René turned around on cue and they locked eyes, both instantly moved to tears.

Traditions with a Twist

Instead of following standard wedding traditions, the couple focused on creating a day that felt authentically theirs.

One nod to their Swiss roots? Mulled wine at the reception, a cozy, festive touch that perfectly fit the Christmas-at-Hogwarts theme.

Styling the Day: Christmas at Hogwarts

The styling was an enchanting blend of festive cheer and magical details:

  • Color palette: Deep reds, greens, touches of white, accented with gold.
  • Floral design: Emily from Daisy Lane Flowers created arrangements that complemented the Christmas trees and mantelpiece décor.
  • Magical details: Marauder’s Map, wands, Bertie Bott’s Beans, Chocolate Frogs, and bespoke Harry Potter stationery from Haunters Gathering.
  • Soundtrack: A carefully curated playlist of Harry Potter scores and Christmas music set the tone all weekend long.
  • The cake: Donna Louise created an elegant masterpiece in red, green, white, and gold, with subtle wizarding flair.

Walking into the decorated hall truly felt like entering Hogwarts for Christmas dinner.

Outfits That Matched the Magic

  • The Bride: A princess-worthy gown, big, beautiful, and dreamy.
  • The Groom: A dark green wool suit that perfectly tied into the wintery, Hogwarts-inspired atmosphere.
  • Bridesmaids: Rich jewel tones (burgundy, emerald, navy, red) that harmonized with the overall color scheme.
  • The Guests: No dress code, except for the post-wedding Christmas Sweater Party, a cozy and festive way to close out the celebration!

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

Their advice is simple yet powerful:

  • “This is your day. Do what makes you happy.”
  • Don’t invite guests out of obligation.
  • Don’t feel pressured by traditions—reinvent everything if you want to.
  • Keep your dreams close to your inner circle to avoid too many outside opinions.
  • Don’t stress about money, invest in memories.

Above all, they emphasize: make the day truly yours and enjoy every moment.

A Three-Day Celebration to Remember

Planning from Switzerland could have been daunting, but working with Lauren and Katie at Clevedon Hall made it effortless. Over the three days, the couple and their guests enjoyed six meals, festive playlists, and seamless coordination with all suppliers.

A fun twist of fate? Their photographer, Laura Dean, was actually their fourth choice after others were booked, but it couldn’t have worked out better. Not only did she capture stunning photos, but as a fellow Harry Potter fan, she kept spirits high with film quotes and laughter throughout the day.

Final Thoughts

This Harry Potter–themed Christmas wedding at Clevedon Hall was nothing short of magical. From the first tear-filled glance down the aisle to fireworks under the winter sky, it was a celebration filled with love, laughter, and pure wizarding wonder.

“We will cherish our wedding forever and still look back at these few days with such gratitude. We’ll recommend Clevedon Hall to everyone, it truly felt like Christmas at Hogwarts.”

Ellie and Titus: Blending English Elegance with Nigerian Heritage

Blending timeless English elegance with vibrant Nigerian heritage, Ellie and Titus’s wedding at Clevedon Hall was a heartfelt fusion of cultures, colour, and personal touches. From a bespoke ceremony honouring loved ones to lively suya tacos and dancing in a Jesus Peiro gown, every detail reflected their story. Styled with whimsical florals, bold fashion, and modern traditions, their day was both deeply meaningful and full of joy.

Why Clevedon Hall?

For Ellie, returning to the West Country to marry felt like coming home. “I grew up in the Chew Valley and went to school in Bristol, so I always imagined getting married in this area,” she explains. “Clevedon Hall was the first venue I visited with my parents—Titus was

delayed in Liverpool with family—and we were immediately struck by how beautiful it was. We also had complete confidence in Lauren and the team from the very beginning.”

Once Titus arrived, the couple explored a few more venues—but none compared. “The house and gardens are stunning. We loved the grandeur of the Great Hall and the light-filled Orangery, perfect for a spring celebration. With multiple indoor options full of character, we knew we’d be in safe hands whatever the weather. The on-site accommodation also made hosting guests much easier, and the team were warm, attentive, and thoroughly professional. When I finally brought Titus back for an open day, he agreed instantly.”

The Ceremony

The ceremony was a deeply personal highlight. The couple worked with Tara the Celebrant to craft a bespoke experience that reflected their story and honoured both their families’ cultural and religious backgrounds. Held in the majestic Grand Hall and styled by Lara Parnell, the setting was breathtaking.

“Just over a year before the wedding, we sadly lost Titus’s father very unexpectedly. It was important to us that he was still part of the day in a way that felt uplifting,” says Ellie. They reserved a seat for him and included a musical tribute—Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten—a shared memory from a concert they attended with his parents. “It started as a surprise, but ended with everyone on their feet, singing and dancing. It was a magical moment.”

The ceremony also featured moving readings from their mothers, Titus’s godfather, and Ellie’s childhood friend and bridesmaid.

Celebration & Style

Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a wedding breakfast filled with laughter and heartfelt speeches—Ellie’s father’s speech famously ran over by 15 minutes—and an evening of dancing with Boujee Music’s Uptown Showdown, who kept the dance floor full all night. A charming photobooth by Loove_booth added a playful touch.

The styling, created by Lara Parnell, brought their vision to life. “We wanted something romantic, youthful, and celebratory, inspired by spring,” says Ellie. “We loved the idea of a whimsical palette with pinks, blues, and a touch of sunset yellow—a nod to Titus’s Nigerian heritage.”

Statement pedestals framed the aisle, meadow-like florals dressed the staircase, and bud vases and coloured glassware completed the look. Emma’s cake featured fresh florals and a piped Nigerian pattern inspired by the couple’s stationery, designed by Carly. “The whole design process was so thoughtful and creative—it felt very ‘us’,” Ellie shares.

Cultural Influences & Modern Traditions

Though they didn’t follow traditional customs, the couple celebrated Titus’s Nigerian roots through attire, colour, food, and design. Titus wore a striking blue Agbada, made by a

Nigerian designer, and his brother and mother also wore traditional outfits. “His outfit was meant to fuse Western and Nigerian styles, but ended up being full Agbada—no sleeves! It wasn’t what we planned, but he looked amazing.”

In the evening, a street food station served Nigerian dishes like suya tacos and jollof rice, giving guests a taste of his heritage.

As a modern couple, they tailored traditions to suit their personalities. Ellie walked down the aisle with her father—but met him at the bottom of the stairs. “In the words of Beyoncé, I’m an independent woman,” she laughs. She also gave a speech, and included female ushers—or “brushers”—in the bridal party.

Outfits

Ellie wore a romantic Jesus Peiro gown from Miss Bush Bridal with dramatic sleeves and a full skirt. “It was whimsical, beautifully made, and gave me that cool-girl princess energy. I never planned to wear something so bold, but Emma and the team opened my eyes to what was possible.”

Instead of changing dresses for the evening, she added custom sparkly puff sleeves from Nortier, Miss Bush’s in-house design team. “They were so fun and fabulous—I felt like Glinda the Good Witch on the dancefloor.”

Advice for Future Couples

“Make it yours,” Ellie says. “Personal touches make the day feel special and unforgettable. We had animal-shaped favours that guests could assemble, as a nod to our first date at London Zoo and our proposal at the Natural History Museum on New Year’s Eve. Our children’s menu was titled Little Aussies in honour of our young cousins visiting from Australia.”

The couple also emphasised the importance of choosing the right team. “Your venue and suppliers shape your entire experience, so work with people you trust and click with. The Clevedon Hall team were incredible—Megan kept us organised, Katie delivered flawlessly on the day, and we’ll be forever grateful.”

Their photographer, Charlie Britz, was also a standout. “She was with us for nearly the entire day and was an absolute dream—so kind, calm, and endlessly talented. We can’t wait to see the full gallery.”

A Magical Celebration at Clevedon Hall: Tiffany & Francis Luxurious Wedding Weekend

A Magical Celebration at Clevedon Hall: Tiffany & Francis' Luxurious Wedding Weekend

When Tiffany and Francis set out to find the perfect venue for their wedding, they had a clear vision: a space that was formal but not stuffy, grand yet welcoming. Clevedon Hall checked every box. From the stunning Great Hall, which needed little additional decoration, to the warm and understanding approach of their wedding coordinator Lauren, everything felt just right. And, as Tiffany firmly required, there were no paintings of "old white men" on the walls—a detail that made them laugh but also solidified their choice!

A Weekend of Unforgettable Moments

Their wedding weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. The festivities kicked off with a vibrant Chinese New Year celebration on Friday, filled with games, laughter, and an unforgettable surprise serenade from Tiffany’s family. The energy of the night set the perfect tone for what was to come.

Then came the wedding day—truly the best day of their lives. Every moment felt like magic, but the Wedding Breakfast stood out as an emotional highlight. There were tears, laughter, and the perfect pairing of exquisite food and wine, making it an experience to cherish forever.

Personal Touches & Traditions

Rather than focusing on specific traditions, Tiffany and Francis crafted the day around meaningful personal moments. Tiffany cherished a quiet morning with her parents in the Bridal Suite, enjoying breakfast together before calling her sister, who couldn’t be there in person. Their first dance song, the very first decision they made for the wedding, held deep significance, making that dance one of the most heartfelt moments of the day.

Styling & Decor: A Harmonious Blend of Cultures

The wedding weekend was a symphony of red and gold hues. Friday’s Chinese New Year celebration embraced vibrant reds and golds, with a dress code of bright colours. The venue was adorned with Tiffany’s mother’s calligraphy, Francis’ mother’s bold red tablecloths, and delicate origami cranes and flowers.

On the wedding day, the palette transitioned to a softer maroon and champagne, creating an elegant yet understated aesthetic. Flowers from a local Bristol florist, Roots, were repurposed from the previous day, beautifully complementing Clevedon Hall’s natural grandeur. Golden candlesticks and cutlery, rented from Clevedon Hall, provided a cohesive touch across both days, adding warmth and sophistication to the dining experience.

Elegant & Meaningful Outfit Choices

For the Chinese New Year celebration, Tiffany and Francis honoured tradition in style. Tiffany wore a stunning Han Chinese outfit, while Francis donned a Chinese jacket embroidered with cranes, symbolizing longevity, peace, and good fortune. The crane motif also appeared throughout their wedding decor, tying everything together beautifully.

For the wedding day, Tiffany sought a dress that was simple, elegant, and easy to move in. She found the perfect gown, later adding a transformative top for the Wedding Breakfast—creating the effect of an outfit change without needing a second dress. Francis, determined to stand out as the groom, opted for a striking burgundy suit, which suited him perfectly.

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

Tiffany and Francis have one key piece of advice for couples planning their wedding: don’t sweat the small details! The day will be beautiful no matter what, so focus on being present and soaking in the love from friends and family. And most importantly, let go of the pressure to entertain—guests will find their own joy in the celebration.

Oh, and one final tip? End the night with an incredible playlist. It’s the secret ingredient to an unforgettable evening!

Arjun & Amariese: A Lavish Sikh Wedding at Clevedon Hall

Arjun and Amariese tied the knot in a breathtaking celebration of their love at the magnificent Clevedon Hall in Somerset.

A Lavish Sikh Wedding at Clevedon Hall - a blog written by Isha Lakhani from Guides for Brides.

Arjun and Amariese tied the knot in a breathtaking celebration of their love at the magnificent Clevedon Hall in Somerset. This grand event spanned over two vibrant, ritual-filled days, with an elegant blend of tradition, family, and festivities that honoured their cultural heritage. The ceremonies, infused with deep symbolism and heartfelt moments, were followed by joyous celebrations that included music, dance, and feasting.

The Venue

Clevedon Hall was chosen as the setting for Arjun and Amariese's multi-day wedding. This exclusive use venue  offered a stunning backdrop for the couple's vibrant celebrations as well as complete privacy for them to celebrate with their friends and family. The venue provided the perfect setting for a multi-day wedding celebration, with 25 beautifully appointed luxurious rooms, that ensured that every wedding guest could relax throughout the festivities. The heart of the celebration unfolded in the Great Hall, an expansive, elegant space that effortlessly accommodated the gala gathering. For the wedding ceremony itself, the enchanting Gazebo nestled in the lush gardens offered a truly magical, picturesque backdrop, perfect for creating unforgettable memories amidst nature's beauty.

The Fashion

Amariese's bridal looks for each ceremony were nothing short of stunning. For the Maiyan, Choora, and Chunni ceremonies, she wore a beautiful blue salwar-kameez that was simple yet elegant, perfectly capturing the traditional spirit of the events. As the evening festivities of the Jaggo approached, she transformed into a vibrant and colorful lehenga, ideal for twirling across the dance floor. On the wedding day, she took everyone's breath away in a dazzling red bridal lehenga, radiating timeless beauty. For the grand finale at the wedding reception, Amariese opted for a gorgeous white lehenga, setting the tone for her fairytale ending.

Arjun's style choices were equally impressive, with each outfit thoughtfully selected for the occasion. For the Jaggo ceremony, he kept it simple with a subtle shirt and pants, allowing him to dance freely and enjoy the celebration. On the wedding day, he perfectly complemented Amariese in a striking golden sherwani, exuding regal charm. As the celebrations came to a close, he chose a sharp black suit, giving a sophisticated finish to their unforgettable wedding journey. The wedding guests embraced the vibrant spirit of the celebrations, donning a beautiful mix of traditional Indian attire, from elegant sarees to colorful kurtas and cholis, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Let's take a closer look at the key rituals that made their wedding so memorable.

Day One: A Beautiful Journey of Pre-Wedding Rituals

Maiyan Ceremony: A Cleansing Start

The festivities began with the Maiyan ceremony, a traditional cleansing ritual. Family and friends gathered around the bride and groom as they lovingly applied yellow turmeric paste to their skin. This symbolic paste not only represents purification but also marks the start of their wedding journey.

Overhead, a red chunni (scarf) was held at each corner by four guests, creating a beautiful canopy for the couple. The laughter and warmth of everyone rubbing the turmeric paste on Arjun and Amariese symbolised the family and friends' support and blessings for their new life together. The ceremony concluded with a red thread tied around the couple's wrists, symbolising protection and the blessings of all present. If you can, it is tradition to keep this on until it falls off.

Choora Ceremony: Blessings of Red Bangles

The second ceremony was the Choora, a touching moment shared between Amariese and her maternal uncle (Mama). He gently placed the traditional red bangles on her wrists, which are traditionally to be worn for five weeks.

Chunni Ceremony: Welcoming the Bride

The Chunni ceremony followed, where Arjun's family "officially" welcomed Amariese into their lives. The groom's family placed a vibrant red chunni on her shoulders, along with gifts, symbolising their acceptance of her as their daughter-in-law. It was a tender moment that united the two families with love and tradition.

Jaggo: The Party Begins!

Once the ceremonial rituals concluded, the party truly began with the Jaggo - a vibrant and energetic celebration! The maternal side of both families danced in with drums, bright colours, and pots with lit candles balanced on their heads. The Jaggo, meaning "stay awake," symbolises the beginning of the wedding celebrations, inviting everyone to join in the music and dancing, and that's exactly what happened! Family and friends took turns passing the Jaggo between them, dancing with pure joy and anticipation for the big day ahead.

Day Two: The Wedding Day

Baraat: The Groom's Grand Arrival

The wedding day started in grand style with Arjun's Baraat; he arrived on a white horse, accompanied by his family and friends. There was also an Ardas (a short prayer) in which all guests bowed to the ground at the end. The Baraat is not just a visual spectacle, but a lively event with drums, music, and dancing, showcasing how well the groom's side can celebrate! Upon arrival, Arjun and his family were warmly received by Amariese's family, marking the start of the union.

Milni Ceremony: Uniting the Families

The Milni ceremony followed, where key members from both families officially met. This symbolic gesture represents the coming together of two families and the joining of their lives through the marriage of their children.

Anand Karaj: The Sikh Wedding Ceremony

The heart of the celebration was the Anand Karaj, the traditional Sikh wedding ceremony. Under a beautifully adorned gazebo, the Guru Granth Sahib (holy book) was placed, and guests were invited to remove their shoes and cover their heads before entering. Guests then proceeded down the aisle and bowed down to the floor, placing money in the box at the front. Traditionally this goes towards the development of the temple. However, the wedding 'priests' were volunteers and every penny donated was to develop the Bebe Nanaki Charitable Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in India.

Ladies then sat on the floor to the left, and men on the floor to the right, as you look towards the front. The religious ladies on the stage sang prayers throughout, and the first ceremony was the Karmai on the groom.

Wedding Food Trends: What’s Hot on the Menu

Weddings are as much about the food as they are about the ceremony itself. In 2024, couples are elevating the dining experience with unique, personalized, and eco-conscious menus that cater to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. From plant-based feasts to interactive food stations, here’s a look at the top wedding food trends shaping receptions this year.

1. Plant-Based and Sustainable Menus

The demand for plant-based cuisine is skyrocketing, as more couples prioritize sustainability and healthier eating habits. Even non-vegans are embracing plant-based options, and caterers are rising to the occasion with creative and flavorful dishes that celebrate vegetables as the star of the plate. Key features include:

  • Vegan fine dining: Think gourmet, plant-based tasting menus with dishes like mushroom risotto, roasted vegetable tartlets, and cashew cream sauces. These aren’t just side dishes but carefully curated, elegant meals that even non-vegans will love.
  • Farm-to-table: Locally sourced, seasonal ingredients are a staple, ensuring that the menu is both sustainable and fresh. This trend helps support local farms and minimizes the carbon footprint.
  • Meat alternatives: Creative use of plant-based proteins, like jackfruit “pulled pork” or Beyond Meat sliders, allows for familiar flavors with a sustainable twist.

2. Global Flavors and Fusion Cuisine

As couples come from increasingly diverse backgrounds, wedding menus are embracing global flavors and fusion cuisine. This trend allows couples to incorporate their cultural heritage or favorite travel destinations into their celebrations. Some popular ideas include:

  • Fusion stations: Catering services are creating stations that combine flavors from different cultures, like sushi tacos or Korean BBQ sliders, blending the best of both worlds.
  • Regional street food: Couples are opting for street food-inspired dishes from around the world—think Indian samosas, Mexican elote, or Italian arancini—for a more casual and fun vibe.
  • Interactive global buffets: Instead of a traditional sit-down dinner, couples are setting up global food stations where guests can explore different cuisines at their own pace, like a Mediterranean mezze bar or a Japanese ramen station.

3. Interactive Food Stations

Gone are the days of cookie-cutter buffets or fixed menus. Interactive food stations are one of the biggest wedding food trends, offering guests a more dynamic and customizable dining experience. Popular ideas include:

  • DIY food bars: Guests can create their own dishes at stations like a taco bar, build-your-own pizza, or poke bowl station. This trend adds a fun, interactive element to the reception while catering to a wide range of tastes.
  • Live cooking stations: Hiring chefs to prepare food in front of guests brings an element of theater to the meal. Whether it’s a pasta-making station, sushi-rolling demonstration, or a live grilling setup, these stations turn dining into an immersive experience.

  • Charcuterie boards and grazing tables: Oversized charcuterie boards filled with artisanal cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, nuts, and bread are becoming a popular alternative to passed appetizers. Grazing tables allow guests to pick and choose as they mingle, making the meal more social.

4. Creative Desserts and Alternative Cakes

While classic wedding cakes still have their place, couples are opting for more creative, playful dessert options to surprise their guests. Unique alternatives include:

  • Mini dessert bars: Instead of one large cake, couples are offering a variety of smaller, bite-sized desserts like mini cheesecakes, macarons, and cupcakes, allowing guests to sample a range of sweets.

  • Dessert food trucks: From ice cream trucks to churro carts, food trucks serving sweet treats are becoming a fun and Instagram-worthy addition to wedding receptions.
  • Non-traditional cakes: While multi-tiered cakes are still popular, many couples are opting for unique alternatives like croquembouche (a tower of cream-filled profiteroles), donut walls, or even cheese-wheel "cakes" for those who prefer savory over sweet.

5. Zero-Waste Catering

As sustainability takes center stage, zero-waste weddings are gaining momentum. Couples are working with caterers to minimize food waste and adopt eco-friendly practices. This trend includes:

  • Eco-conscious portions: Caterers are focusing on creating smaller, more intentional portion sizes to avoid excess food waste. Instead of large, overwhelming platters, dishes are served as elegant, manageable portions.

  • Reusable or compostable dishware: To minimize the environmental impact of single-use plastics, couples are opting for eco-friendly alternatives like compostable cutlery, bamboo plates, or renting reusable glassware and crockery.
  • Leftover donation: Many couples are partnering with local organizations to donate any leftover food to shelters or food banks, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

6. Cocktail Pairings and Specialty Drinks

Couples are elevating their drink game with curated cocktail pairings and signature beverages that reflect the couple’s personalities. Here’s what’s trending:

  • Craft cocktail bars: Instead of a standard open bar, couples are hiring mixologists to create bespoke cocktails tailored to their tastes or the wedding theme. These drinks often feature unique ingredients like elderflower, lavender, or artisanal bitters.

  • Non-alcoholic options: With the rise of health-conscious living, mocktails and alcohol-free options are becoming more sophisticated. Signature mocktails using fresh, seasonal ingredients give non-drinking guests a special experience.
  • Local and craft beverages: Supporting local breweries, distilleries, and wineries is a big part of wedding menus. Craft beers, artisanal gin, and locally produced wines add a personal touch while supporting regional businesses.

7. Personalized Menus

Couples in 2024 are making their wedding menus more personal by infusing them with elements that reflect their relationship or family traditions. Popular ideas include:

  • Family recipes: Many couples are incorporating cherished family recipes into their wedding menu, whether it’s a signature dish from a grandparent’s cookbook or a cultural staple that’s meaningful to the couple.

  • Themed menus: For couples who share a favorite food, TV show, or book, themed menus are a playful way to personalize the dining experience. A "Harry Potter"-inspired menu with butterbeer or a “Game of Thrones” banquet-style feast are fun ideas that guests will remember.
  • Custom wine and cocktail labels: Some couples are taking personalization a step further by creating custom labels for wine bottles or cocktails, featuring their wedding date, a special message, or even a logo designed just for the big day.

8. Family-Style Dining

For couples seeking a more relaxed and communal dining experience, family-style service is making a comeback. This trend allows guests to share large platters of food at the table, encouraging interaction and a warm, intimate atmosphere. Popular choices include:

  • Rustic comfort food: Think hearty, shareable dishes like roast chicken, mac and cheese, or vegetable gratins served family-style. These meals evoke a cozy, home-cooked feel that guests love.

  • Communal platters: Instead of individual plates, large charcuterie boards, seafood towers, or antipasto platters are placed on each table for guests to share and enjoy together.

Conclusion

The wedding food trends reflect a shift toward personalization, sustainability, and interactive experiences. Whether couples are embracing plant-based menus, indulging in global flavors, or serving family recipes with a twist, wedding cuisine is becoming more dynamic and memorable. The focus is no longer just on feeding guests but on crafting a dining experience that reflects the couple’s values, personalities, and creativity. Whatever your vision for your big day, these food trends offer endless inspiration for creating a delicious and meaningful celebration.

Embracing Elegance: Autumn and Winter Weddings at a Luxury Historic Wedding Venue

There’s something undeniably magical about autumn and winter weddings, especially when celebrated in a luxurious 18th-century venue. The blend of historic charm, seasonal ambiance, and opulent surroundings makes these colder months ideal for couples seeking a romantic and timeless setting. As nature transitions from the golden hues of autumn to the frosted elegance of winter, your wedding can become an enchanting experience, filled with warmth, elegance, and unforgettable beauty.

The Allure of an 18th-Century Venue

The grandeur of an 18th-century venue brings an air of sophistication and history to your wedding. Imagine a stately manor, set amidst manicured gardens and sweeping landscapes, with its classical architecture, lavish interiors, and ornate detailing. These venues often feature grand staircases, marble fireplaces, and chandeliers that cast a soft glow over intimate spaces. The combination of these architectural elements with the changing seasons creates a unique atmosphere where tradition meets romance.

In autumn, as the leaves fall and the air turns crisp, the soft, golden light filters through the tall windows, illuminating the rich wooden paneling and antique furnishings. In winter, the venue transforms into a cozy retreat, where roaring fireplaces and candlelit rooms evoke an intimate charm that is perfect for a winter wonderland wedding.

The Beauty of an Autumn Wedding

Autumn weddings at a historic venue are pure enchantment. The natural palette of the season—burnt oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows—complements the historical elegance of the venue. The gardens, often adorned with centuries-old trees, provide a stunning backdrop of changing leaves, perfect for capturing breath taking photographs.

This season lends itself to rustic yet refined décor. Imagine dining in a grand hall with tables adorned with gold accents, flickering candlelight, and floral arrangements filled with rich autumnal blooms like dahlias, roses, and chrysanthemums. Paired with dark wood furniture and soft linens, these colors create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

For couples looking to embrace the season’s flavors, autumn weddings offer the chance to infuse your menu with cozy, comforting dishes. Think mulled wine, spiced cocktails, and a seasonal menu featuring hearty dishes like roast meats, squash, and figs. As guests gather around the fireplace during cocktail hour, sipping on warm drinks, the venue’s timeless charm adds to the feeling of indulgence.

The Magic of a Winter Wonderland Wedding

Winter weddings evoke the essence of a classic fairy tale. With frost-covered gardens and possibly even a dusting of snow, the setting becomes a serene, winter wonderland. The contrast between the cold outdoors and the warmth inside the grand manor is what makes winter weddings so special.

Picture arriving at your venue amidst a backdrop of bare trees and twinkling lights, with the historic façade glowing softly against the winter sky. Inside, grand fireplaces roar, filling the space with warmth as your guests enjoy hot chocolate bars, champagne, or signature winter cocktails. The décor can lean into the season’s cool tones—white, silver, and icy blue—or opt for a more traditional palette of rich reds and greens, accented with garlands of evergreens and berry-laden branches.

Winter weddings also offer endless opportunities for lavish attire. Brides can don luxurious velvet shawls, faux fur wraps, or long-sleeved lace gowns that echo the elegance of the venue. Grooms can complement the aesthetic with sharp, tailored suits in rich fabrics like wool or velvet. The cold weather encourages layering, adding a regal touch to your overall look.

The Benefits of an Off-Peak Wedding

Another advantage of autumn and winter weddings is the possibility of securing your dream 18th-century venue at a more favorable rate. Many venues experience lower demand during the colder months, which can open up a wider range of dates and provide additional flexibility for couples. Moreover, with fewer weddings happening, you can expect more personalized attention from venue staff and vendors, ensuring every detail is meticulously executed.

You also have more freedom to customize your day without the restrictions of peak wedding season schedules. Whether you want an outdoor ceremony in an autumn garden followed by an indoor reception or a late-afternoon winter wedding that flows seamlessly into an evening of dancing by the fire, the venue’s timeless elegance offers endless versatility.

Capturing Timeless Memories

The historic ambiance of an 18th-century venue provides the perfect canvas for timeless wedding photography. In autumn, the golden light filtering through the foliage creates a dreamlike quality, while winter’s crisp, pale light highlights the grandeur of the venue’s architecture and the intimacy of indoor moments.

Imagine your wedding photos: under a canopy of autumn leaves, wrapped in a fur stole on a winter balcony overlooking frost-covered gardens, or sharing a kiss in front of a roaring fire in a candlelit room. These settings ensure that your wedding album will be filled with moments that look and feel like they’ve been plucked from the pages of a romantic novel.

The Perfect Backdrop for Love

Autumn and winter weddings at a historic manor house are for couples who want more than just a wedding—they want an experience. These venues exude history, beauty, and charm, and when paired with the cozy elegance of the colder months, they create an atmosphere that is unforgettable.

Whether you choose to say your vows surrounded by the vibrant colors of fall or under the glow of chandeliers in a winter wonderland, a historic venue offers a timeless backdrop that makes every moment feel like a scene from a classic love story. After all, when you marry in a venue steeped in history, you’re not just celebrating the start of your future—you’re also becoming part of a legacy that has stood the test of time.
