When couples begin planning their wedding, most immediately picture spring blossoms or long summer evenings. But after hosting one of the most beautiful winter weddings we've ever seen at Clevedon Hall, we're convinced that January may be one of the most underrated times of year to say "I do".

With crisp blue skies, a sparkling morning frost, hundreds of flickering candles and a glamorous black-tie celebration, this unforgettable wedding perfectly showcased the magic of a winter wedding at an exclusive-use country house venue.

Falling in Love with Clevedon Hall

For Lucy & Joe, the search for their wedding venue began with a clear vision. They wanted exclusive use, guest accommodation on site and a venue capable of comfortably hosting their large guest list.

"Even before our first viewing, Clevedon Hall fulfilled our search criteria. But we truly fell in love with it when we arrived for our first visit. Walking towards the Hall through the beautifully maintained gardens, we knew immediately that it was something special."

The combination of historic architecture, elegant interiors and luxurious accommodation made Clevedon Hall the perfect choice for their wedding weekend.

A Wedding Weekend to Remember

One of the joys of an exclusive-use wedding venue is the opportunity to turn your wedding day into an entire wedding experience.

The celebrations began the evening before, with pre-wedding drinks allowing guests to settle into their rooms, relax and spend quality time together before the big day.

By the time the wedding morning arrived, excitement was building throughout the Hall as family and friends enjoyed breakfast together before returning to their rooms to prepare.

Meanwhile, the couple enjoyed a relaxed morning with brunch, champagne and their closest family and friends.

"We felt completely at ease. The team looked after everything, allowing us to simply enjoy every moment."

The Magic of a January Wedding

Winter weddings often don't receive the recognition they deserve, but this January celebration was a perfect example of why couples should consider an off-season wedding date.

The couple woke to a spectacular sunrise, clear blue skies and a delicate frost across the grounds.

"Not a single cloud in the sky. The bright orange sunrise and crisp winter morning created memories we'll never forget."

The winter sunshine provided beautiful natural light for photography, while the seasonal atmosphere created a sense of warmth and intimacy throughout the day.

Timeless Styling with Hundreds of Candles

Working alongside Beth from Room to Bloom Events, the couple transformed the Grand Hall and Library into a romantic winter wonderland.

A palette of white florals and hundreds of candles created a timeless aesthetic that perfectly complemented Clevedon Hall's period features.

As daylight faded, the candlelight brought an incredible warmth and glow to the celebration, creating a truly magical atmosphere for guests.

Banquet-style tables in the Library encouraged conversation and brought everyone together for an elegant wedding breakfast.

Capturing Every Moment

Photographer Sacha Miller beautifully documented the day, capturing natural moments, genuine emotions and the stunning winter light that made this January wedding so special.

One particularly memorable piece of advice came from Clevedon Hall's wedding coordinator, Matthew, who encouraged the couple to take a few moments alone together throughout the day.

"We were so grateful for that suggestion. It gave us time to check in with each other and truly appreciate everything that was happening around us."

A Black-Tie Celebration

The couple embraced classic wedding style from beginning to end.

Guests were invited to dress black tie, creating a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere throughout the day and ensuring beautifully cohesive photographs.

The bride wore a stunning gown by Kyha, while her bridesmaids wore elegant dresses from Maids to Measure. Their daughter Sophie and goddaughter Imogen were bridesmaids, while their son George proudly took on the important role of page boy and ring bearer.

Exceptional Food, Wine and Evening Celebrations

As self-confessed lovers of fine dining and great wine, the couple placed particular importance on the wedding breakfast.

"The food and drink were exceptional. Every course was beautifully presented and our guests commented throughout the day on the quality."

As evening guests arrived, the celebration transformed into an unforgettable party complete with a Moët Champagne tower, sparklers and a confetti cannon during the first dance.

The dance floor remained full all evening, creating the perfect end to a spectacular day.

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

When asked what advice they would share with newly engaged couples, their answer was simple:

"Trust the venue."

By choosing an experienced wedding venue and investing time in the planning process with their coordinators, they were able to relax and fully enjoy every moment.

"The hours spent with our coordinators were invaluable. They understood exactly what we wanted and managed every detail perfectly. We wouldn't change a thing."
